Create a Lenten Rose Centerpiece

Create a Lenten Rose Centerpiece  in the middle of winter?  Hollow out a medium sized green cabbage, add water and stems, then garnish the arrangement with fresh Brussel Sprouts. A water filled  custard cup was placed in the base of the cabbage to keep the stems fresh.  Published article featuring the Lenten Rose Centerpiece found here  http://serveitupsassy.com/category/multi-media/publications/.  Article titled Dining on a Dime.

Create a Lenten Rose Centerpiece in the middle of winter?

Hollow out a medium sized green cabbage, add water and stems, then garnish the arrangement with fresh Brussel Sprouts.  A custard cup in the base of the cabbage held the water. The Lenten Rose stems were 4-5 inches long . Lenten Roses grow close to the ground and are perennials meaning they will bloom each winter.  In  spring and summer the leaves are dark green and  make a great statement in a flower bed.  My three plants are planted in the shade by a large rock wall.  Worth the three year waiting period to bloom.  Hum, three plants.. three years???  Does that have anything to do with it?  Probably not.  Ha Ha.
