Ingredients
1/2 cup butter, no substitutes, softened
1/2 cup shortening, softened, can use butter flavored
1/4 teaspoon salt
2 1/2 cups confectioner’s sugar, sifted
1/2 teaspoon clear vanilla or creme bouquet*
2–3 tablespoons whipping cream
Instructions
1. Cream butter and shortening together until creamy. Add flavorings and salt, beat to combine.
2. Add sifted confectioners sugar alternately with whipping cream, beat until fluffy and creamy.
3. Add additional confectioners sugar and cream for desired consistency.
Notes
This is a great frosting for crumb coating and decorating cakes. This frosting is off white or ivory in color. The more you beat the frosting, the lighter it becomes.
