Super cute no bake birds nests for Easter baskets, gift giving or springtime brunches.Melted dark chocolate chips, peanut or almond butter, shredded wheat and chow mein noodles combined to form “nest ” in muffin cups with candy eggs to finish the presentation.

Best made and served same day. Can be made ahead one day and stored in covered container.

Ingredients

Scale

1- 1/2 cups semi sweet chocolate chips, tested Ghirardelli

1/4 cup creamy peanut butter-* optional or almond butter or hazelnut chocolate spread

1 cup crunchy chow mein noodles

36 - (12 nests x 3 pieces) Cadbury eggs, jelly beans, Jordon almonds, Lemoncello Almonds

Instructions

1. Prepare 12 cup muffin tin. Lightly spray coat with cooking spray each cup . Set aside.

2.Melt chocolate chips and peanut butter  in a double boiler, over low heat. Stir until smooth.

3.Add chow mein noodles, stir to combine until thoroughly coated.

4. Place 2- 3 tablespoons of mixture inside the of a muffin tin  cups. Press mixture  up the sides and down in the middle of each cup to create a “nest” shape.

5. Add 3-5 Cadbury Eggs to each nest or candy of choice.

Notes

  • *Peanut butter is optional, just will make 10 nests. Or substitute peanut butter for  almond butter.
  • If you want free shape the mixture into smaller nests, as for decorating cupcakes, use 1 to 2 tablespoons of mixture and shape with hands to form small sized nests. Lightly spray your hands with cooking spray or butter to form the shapes with hands. You can also use a smaller cup/bowl to form if you don’t want to use your hands.
