Inspiration for this cake came from Betty Crocker.

Easy to mix cake starts with white cake mix and added ingredients making this a moist patriotic cake. Cake texture is  like a pound cake with decorative red, white and blue drizzled frosting on the baked cake.

Ingredients

Units Scale

115.25 ounce package white cake mix- tested Duncan Hines

13 ounce package white chocolate instant pudding and pie mix-dry

3 egg whites

11/3 cup water

1/3 cup vegetable oil

1 teaspoon creme bouquet or clear vanilla

Red, Blue food gel

3 cans white canned frosting

Decor: red ballon weight with stars and tinsel

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to  350 degrees.  Grease and flour 9 or 10″ bundt cake pan. Set aside.
  2. Using stand mixer fitted with mixing paddle, add cake mix and remaining 5 ingredients.  Beat for 2 minutes until cake mix is smooth.
  3. Pour batter into prepared cake pan.
  4. Bake in middle of oven for 40-45 minutes. Remove from oven and cool 20 minutes.
  5. Place food gel drops in white frosting , one for red and one for blue. Leave one can white.  Place colored frosting in microwave for 10 seconds to thin to drizzle.
  6. Drizzle white, then add red, and last blue frosting over the top of cake to create the “bursting in air” look.
  7. Place balloon weight in center of the cake right before serving on cake stand.
  8. Store covered.  Cake will freeze well before frosting.
