5 DIY Christmas Gifts to Create and Receive-Christmas Wreath Pressed Cookies

Easy to press and bake butter cookies.  Dough is tinted with food gel to create colorful cookies.  Garnish with sprinkles, candies or glaze if desired.

Ingredients

Units Scale

3 sticks of softened butter, unsalted preferred

1 cup granulated sugar

1/2 teaspoon salt

2 large eggs, room temperature

1 teaspoon clear vanilla or creme bouquet or extract of choice

4 cups all purpose flour

2 to 3 drops Green food coloring gel

Garnish: Sprinkles, red hots, chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 400 F.
  2. In large mixing bowl cream together butter, sugar and salt.  Beat until light and fluffy.  Add vanilla and eggs one at a time, continuously beating.
  3. Add food coloring gel to desired intensity.
  4. Gradually add flour, beating until combined.
  5. Place dough in cookie press with desired disk. (wreath) and ( sunflower).  Press dough onto un-greased baking sheet. Hold press vertically on baking sheet, then press and lift. ( practice until you get a pretty shaped cookie).  Pipe cookies 1 ” apart.  Dough will not spread during baking.
  6. Garnish with Christmas sprinkles, red hots, and chocolate chips if desired before baking. (Chocolate chip as center for sunflower pressed cookie.) Red hots for berries on wreath.
  7. Bake 8-10 minutes or until cookies are golden around the edges.  Rotate baking sheet halfway at 4 minutes baking time.
  8. Remove from oven and let cool 5 minutes.  With spatula remove cookies from baking sheet.
  9. Arrange cookies on a decorative plate in the shape of a Christmas Tree for gift giving or mixed in a small box.
