Southern Fruit Sweet Tea Sangria

Ingredients

Scale

2 family size tea bags or 6-8 regular or decaf tea bags

2 cups frozen or fresh fruit such as triple berries, strawberries, peaches, oranges, your choice.

2-4 lemons & limes- cut into slices or small wedges

Simple Syrup

2 cups water

1 cup granulated sugar

Garnish: Lemon, lime or orange wedges, mint leaves, fresh raspberries, blueberries.

Instructions

1.  In microwave, heat 2 cups water with 2 family size tea bags or (6 regular bags), for two minutes. Remove from microwave, allow to steep 5 minutes before removing bags. Pour tea over ice filled pitcher. Squeeze a half a lemon and lime over the ice and into tea. 

2.  In another microwave safe glass cup or bowl add 2 cups of water  and 1 cup sugar for simple syrup. Microwave for 90 seconds or until sugar is dissolved. Pour simple syrup into your pitcher of tea, stir to blend.

3.Add frozen fruit or fresh berries, lemons, & limes.

   Garnish with lemon lime wedges, mint leaves.

 

 

Notes

Recipe can be doubled or tripled.

Tip: If you have ice cube trays, pour tea in the trays, add berries and freeze, use these ice fruited cubes to chill your sangria.

If you have any tea sangria left over, cover it and refrigerate for up to three days. You can make more tea and add to the leftover fruit.  The longer it sits the better it will be. This is great with Lemon Cooler Cookies
