Ingredients

Scale

1 large red d'Anjou or red bartlet pear

25 large seedless green grapes- tail feathers

25 frilly long toothpicks with the frilly part removed

1- medium can whole and pitted black olives

12-14 -1/8" slices of colby jack cheese or cheese of choice

1-2 cups Whole almonds or nut of choice

Dried apricots or other dried fruit your family likes to fill in the board

Assorted Crackers

Instructions

Make Turkey Tail

1.Cut pear in half vertically and placed on flat work surface or serving platter. Insert 5 frilly or long toothpicks to the widest end of pear, but remove the frills from the toothpicks.  Thread two grapes then one black olive on to each toothpick. Repeat for a second row to make the tail feathers. Fill in back of turkey with olives or grapes.

Make turkey face

2.Cut small round cheese cut outs then with tooth pick attach to one grape “head”.  Leave a little bit of toothpick exposed to create the center of the eyes.  One large grape makes a great head.  Cut a small piece of cheese for the gobbler. see photo.

Making Turkey Feathers

3. Cut out leaf shaped cheese and weave gently with a toothpick to attach to the pear and around the board.

4. Fill in the rest of the board with crackers, additional cheese slices, grapes, almonds, dried apricots or whatever you would like.

Seedless grapes are picked on frilly long toothpicks with the frilly part removed.  Grapes are stacked and inserted into the widest end of pear half.  Cutting the pear in half length-wise with help with weight distribution of grape tail feathers.
