How to Make Fireworks, Red, White And Blue Bundt Cake
Whether you make a bundt cake from scratch or use a cake mix this cake is fun to make. Begin with a white cake mix with the following added ingredients; white chocolate instant pudding and pie mix, egg whites, water and creme bouquet flavoring along with vegetable oil. Super easy cake to mix and bake. Let’s get started.
First preheat your oven to 350 F degrees. Position oven rack in middle of oven. Remove upper rack if you have one. Lightly spray 9″ bundt pan with cooking spray then dust with flour, shaking loose any excess flour from pan. Set aside.
In large mixing bowl of stand mixer with paddle attachment, add cake mix, package of instant white chocolate pudding & pie mix, egg whites, water, creme bouquet flavoring and vegetable oil. Beat on medium speed for 2 minutes. Pour cake batter in prepared 9″ bundt pan. Bake at 350 for 45-55 minutes or until center comes out clean.
After cake is baked, remove from oven and allow to cool 5 minutes before inverting pan. Invert cake onto cooling rack, let cake completely cool before frosting.
Making the Frosting
You can make your own buttercream frosting or use purchased canned. If you use canned frosting you will need 3 cans of vanilla. Place food gel drops the desired color intensity; one for red and one for blue and do not tint one can of the white. Place colored frosting in microwave for 10 seconds to thin to drizzle. Stir each melted frosting to blend before drizzling.
With a large spoon, drizzle white frosting over the top of the cake allowing the frosting to fall or drip down the sides of the cake. Start at the top of the center tube of cake and drizzle outward around the cake. Next add the red frosting same technique not covering the white if you can keep from it. Last add the blue frosting drizzle over the top of cake filling in spaces between the red and white drizzle to create the “bursting in air” look. Sprinkle with patriotic sprinkles if desired.
Place a balloon weight in center of the cake right before serving on cake stand. Add a frilly metallic spray pick to the ballon weight to create a fireworks display.
Store cake covered without the balloon weight and pick. Cake will freeze well before frosting.
What Does the Instant Pudding Do for the Cake?
Adding the pudding mix will make the cake more like a pound cake, adding moisture and flavor. Slicing the cake will be easier too for the cake is firmer.
How is this Cake Different than Betty Crockers Recipe?
Mostly the decor however I did not create the red, white and blue cake layers but I did use the pudding mix and a red balloon weight for the center decor. I really liked the Betty Cocker cake, it is a pretty and looks delicious. If you want to create the red, white and blue cake, follow these instructions.
Decorate your table with red, white and blue. Feature the cake as centerpiece along with the white hydrangeas in star lined vase. Check out this table scape here.
