Supplies Needed For this DIY Springtime Bunny and Blossoms Wreath

To make this cute wreath, you should determine how large of a wreath you want to create. I found these bold and beautiful colors on Amazon as a set of 6. My main objective was to fit small bunnies around the perimeter of the wreath so they couldn’t be too large. I selected the 8.8″ tall size. Once you know what size wreath you want to make you will need to adjust the number of the bunnies, but I do recommend you keep the bunnies small if you want them around the wreath, keeping the center of the wreath open.

Supplies:

12-flocked bunny figurines-8.8″ size

18 ” grapevine wreath or 18″ flat wire wreath- I used grapevine for more 3D effect.

Green or burlap twine- 36″ per bunny figurine-used to tie the bunnies to the wreath.

Assorted faux greenery, silk daisies, petite tulips, purple small iris or snap dragons, white berry clusters and faux berries. Any spring type flowers to fill in around the wreath between bunnies that coordinate with the color of the bunnies.

Ribbon is optional, but on the bunnies I purchased from Amazon came with thin satin ribbon around each neck of the bunny. You could also use small pearls or rhinestone strands for bling if you would like.

Hanger- pipe cleaner or florist wire formed as a loop.

Hot glue, wire cutters, and floral wire or pipe cleaner for wreath hanger.

Making the Wreath

Once you have your supplies, begin with the grapevine wreath. Wrap leafy greens around the perimeter of the wreath. Be careful not to completely cover the wreath with the leavy greens as most of it will be covered up with the bunnies. Let a few sprigs extend over the edge of the wreath to create spill over.

Determine the top of your wreath, turn it over and make a wire or pipe cleaner loop for a holder. Tie a piece of twine to the loop so you can see where the loop is once you turn the wreath over to decorate.

With burlap twine or florist wire, cut 36″ lengths. Layout bunnies in the color order you like.

Wind the twine or wire around the neck of the bunnies and position on the wreath, wrap and tie the twine or wire to securely attach to the wreath. I must admit this is a bit challenging to hold the bunny and twine snug enough to attach. It is helpful if you have someone to hold bunny in place as you wrap and secure.

FYI You can hot glue the bunnies to the wrap, but I opted to wrap with twine so I can reuse these cute bunnies for other projects. Glue will harm the flocking.

I laid out the bunnies with yellow, purple, hot pink, orange, green and blue for the upper half of wreath with the hot pink at the top center or (12 o’clock) and blue (3 o’clock) and yellow (9 o’clock)Then repeated the same color pattern for the remaining lower half of wreath.

Yellow at 4 o’clock, hot pink at 6 o’clock, an blue at 8 O’clock.  Fill in remaining spaces with the remaining bunnies in your color pattern evenly spacing on the wreath.

Next step, remove small and large flower heads from stems hot glue to wreath as desired between each bunny. Cut berry stems to about 3-4″ lengths dip in hot glue and insert into grapevine wreath. Make sure before you glue in place, you like where the florals are going to rest on your wreath.

Color tip: Use a color wheel to help see color combinations when placing the bunnies with colorful florals. It really does help if you are unsure if one color goes with another.
