Dark Purple and Green set the color scheme for a striking Garden Party Tablescape. Set your table with dark purple plates, bowls and stemware and lemon leaf placemats. Accent with bright lemons and a beautiful Simple DIY Tulip Centerpiece that unites the purple and green place settings. Using a fresh lemon place card at each setting draws guests to the table. Whether hosting a garden party or setting your kitchen table this purple and green color scheme will bring big smiles each time you see it.
Garden Party Tablescape
Setting the table with a white tablecloth and white square dinner plates provides a solid background for the other elements. The lemon leaf square placemats provides texture and uniformity to each place setting. Keeping the yellow tulips centered in the centerpiece and the lemons in the center of the bowls help unify the overall tablescape. Adding a white ruffled edged napkin folded like a flower adds fluidity, or movement to the table. I just love the purple dinner and stemware. It was given to me by my friend, Teresa Foster.
How to Make the Centerpiece
Gather your supplies including the following; a large white bowl for the container. I used a ruffled bowl that was purchased from Pier 1.
You will also need three dozen yellow tulips, 1 dozen purple tulips and 3 bunches of purple alstroemeria. Assorted greenery from your yard or faux greenery sprigs.
Fill the white bowl with fresh water 3/4 full. Gather yellow tulips together like a bouquet, add purple tulips to your hand bouquet on the outer edges of the yellow tulips. Place this loose bouquet into the bowl of water. All the tulips to fall at random.
Fill the bottom of the bowl/vase with the purple alstroemeria, filling in gaps with the alstroemeria. Add any additional greenery to add softness to the arrangement.
I used lemon leaf square placemats as a foundation for centerpiece and at each place-setting on the table.
Decorating the Table
Setting a pretty table makes everyone happy! Purple and Yellow are complimentary colors and helps pull the look together that is cohesive and eye appealing.
Since I had the purple salad plates and goblets as my inspiration for this table scape, the plate went with me to my grocery store floral shop to find the purple & yellow tulips. While in the grocery store I picked up a few lemons to use as name place cards at each setting.
Pleasing Place-Settings
Layered white plates, square and round add interest to the purple dinnerware.
Adding a fresh lemon to the bowl held a name card. Simply piece the lemon with a sharp knife and thinly slit to hold a name tag. You could write on the lemon with a marker if you prefer. The white ruffled napkin is placed inside the purple globe glass.
Here is another centerpiece idea using the same vase but with other florals.
Hope you will make a pretty table using purple and yellow tulips.
