How to Create a Patriotic Mini Charcuterie
Creating a charcuterie board is easy when you have a small one to deck out. You won’t need a lot of treats just a few that will satisfy your family and guests. As a pre-dinner appetizer consider serving the following items:
- Diced cubes of cheese, or cheese cut into shapes that go along with your theme, in this case I used a mini star cookie cutter and cut out Swiss cheese stars.
- Thread mini meats or pasta on a wooden skewer such as red, white & blue tortellini, mini salami rounds or pepperoni, rolled or cubed ham, turkey, even cooked meatballs.
- Add something sweet like mini cherry vanilla cupcakes or gluten free no bake brownie bites
- Assorted small berries in a small cup or consider a few veggies with hummus.
- Assorted chocolates, nuts or dried fruits, even yogurt covered pretzels in themed color.
Let’s Start with the Board
Charcuterie boards come in many different shapes and sizes. I found these at Hobby Lobby. They seem to have round ones too. For larger charcuterie boards that I love and use check out Reluctant Entertainer.
Add cheese cut out star, rectangular cracker for the base of the tortellini kabob, add kabob, add mini cherry vanilla cupcake with long stem dark cherry, and small star dish with chocolates. Use a frilly wooden pick for the skewered kabob.
Decorate your table with red, white and blue accessories, red round placemat with square white dinner plate, rolled blue & white napkin with faux flower napkin ring. Place mini charcuterie on plate at each place-setting. Enjoy! See Recipe for Red, White & Blue Tortellini kabobs.
