How to Make Caramel Pecan Brownies
Ingredients
Brownie mix -tested Dark Chocolate Fudge Brownie -Duncan Hines, or make your own recipe.
Eggs, vegetable oil and water as per instructions on brownie mix.
Caramel Bits or 25 unwrapped caramels
Pecans- toasted chopped
Dark Chocolate Chips- tested Ghirardelli
Making the Brownies
- Preheat oven to 350 F (180 C) degrees.
- Line an 8 x 8 inch square pan with aluminum foil extending foil over sides of baking pan for easy lifting from pan. Lightly grease foil with cooking spray and coat with little bit of flour.
- Remove excess flour and set aside. Follow instructions on brownie mix and pour into prepared pan. You will need vegetable oil, eggs, water. Sometimes I will add 1 tablespoon chocolate syrup to the mix and orange extract for a orange flavored brownie. It’s very good, try it sometime.
- Bake brownies 50-55 minutes. Remove brownies from oven and keep warm.
- Meanwhile, melt caramel bits and half and half in microwave for 1 minute or until melted.
- Pour melted caramel over warm brownies covering entire surface.
- Over the caramel sprinkle chopped pecans and dark chocolate morsels.
- Refrigerate brownies to firm before slicing about 30-45 minutes.
Recipe makes 12-2 ” brownies if you cut the brownies into 2-inch squares from an 8×8-inch pan. However as you know; if you cut the brownies into smaller or larger portions, you may get more or fewer servings. Recipe can be doubled or tripled just make sure you purchase additional brownie mixes and ingredients on the box.
