Ingredients

Scale

61/2 cups whole or 2% milk

11/4 cups semi sweet chocolate, grated

1/4 teaspoon salt

2/3  cup boiling water

1 cup sugar

11/2 teaspoons vanilla extract

11/4 cups semi sweet chocolate, grated

Assorted condiments:  fresh whipped cream, mini chocolate chips, caramel sauce, chocolate sauce, mini and large marshmallows, candy canes, flavored syrups.

Instructions

  1. In large saucepan, combine grated chocolate, sugar and salt.  Add boiling water, stir to combine.
  2. Bring mixture to a boil, add milk and heat until hot but not boiling.
  3. Add vanilla, stir to combine.
  4. Pour into thermos or carafe/mugs.
  5. Garnish with assorted condiments.
